ASN Netrality Dominates 27 Alleged Violations Of The 2024 Regional Head Election In Riau Islands

TANJUNGPINANG The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Riau Islands Province (Kepri) recorded 27 alleged violations of the 2024 Pilkada during the campaign period which took place from September 25 to November 23, 2024. The neutrality of the state civil apparatus (ASN) dominated election violations.

The Riau Islands Bawaslu Commissioner, Rosnawati, detailed that of the total 27 cases, 24 were reports from the public, while the other three were direct findings from Bawaslu. These violations are spread across various districts/cities in the Riau Islands region.

The reports include alleged violations of ASN neutrality, criminal, and code of ethics. Meanwhile, our findings are more related to ASN neutrality," said Rosnawati, Sunday (24/11), as quoted by Antara.

According to Rosnawati, the alleged violation of ASN neutrality is the most dominant case in the findings and reports of the public. Some of these cases have been followed up and recommended to the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) because they are related to violations of other laws and regulations.

He also mentioned that the alleged criminal violation of the regional elections, especially in Karimun Regency, involved ASN personnel. Currently, the case has entered the investigation stage by the police.

"Most of the alleged violations of the regional elections that we handle are related to ASN neutrality," he said.

Rosnawati reminded the General Elections Commission (KPU) to ensure that all campaign props (APK) have been cleaned before the calm period begins and ahead of voting day on November 27, 2024.

In addition, he appealed to candidate pairs of regional heads not to carry out campaign activities in any form, either directly or through social media, during periods of calm.

"We also invite the public to keep the situation conducive during the quiet period until voting day. Firmly reject the practice of money politics, and make sure to come to polling stations on D day," said Rosnawati.

Bawaslu hopes that all parties, including candidate pairs, supporters, and the community, can play an active role in maintaining the integrity of the 2024 Pilkada for the sake of creating honest and fair elections.
