This Is Erick Thohir's Target For The Indonesian National Team In The 2024 AFF Cup

JAKARTA - PSSI General Chairperson (Ketum) Erick Thohir has set a target for the Indonesian national team in the 2024 AFF Cup or ASEAN Championship which will be held from December to January. He asked Shin Tae-yong as the head coach to give his best.

For this agenda itself, Shin Tae-yong has indeed decided to include U-22 players. The rest are only a few players who appear in the domestic league, League 1.

The reason the South Korean coach is quite clear, is because the 2024 AFF Cup does not include the FIFA Matchday agenda and the organizing schedule that clashes with competitions.

Regarding the situation and trust given to Shin Tae-yong, Erick Thohir demanded a target in the 2024 AFF Cup. He asked Shin Tae-yong to give his best and hoped that the U-22 players could also replace the U-23 players.

"Yes, the target is if you join (the 2024 AFF Cup), we have to give our best. And this is an opportunity for our young U-22 players to be able to start replacing our senior players who are already above the U-23," said Erick Thohir in a statement quoted on Sunday, November 24.

Even so, when it was confirmed that the best target that must be achieved in the 2024 AFF Cup was the title, Erick Thohir was reluctant to explain.

"We want the best thing later, we'll see the results," said Erick.

Apart from that, Erick Thohir has indeed given freedom to Shin Tae-yong regarding the summons of Indonesian national team players for the 2024 AFF Cup.

"Indeed, in this U-22 there are still several names of half-senior players such as Pratama Arhan, yes, go ahead,"

"I really want the U-22 players, all of whom are called U-22. So that we prepare for the SEA Games. But again the coaches also have the will, we have to accommodate," he said.
