When Razka Robby Ertanto Brings Guna-Guna Istri Muda Movie to Modern Version
JAKARTA - Razka Robby Ertanto is the director for the remake of the film Guna-Guna Istri Muda under the production of Falcon Black. This film is a remake of the film of the same title that aired in 1977.
Played by Anjasmara and Lulu Tobing, Robby collaborated with Alim Sudio and Titien Watimenna to present a modern version that is more advanced than the original version.
"This film is a remake of the 1977 film so at that time the film was phenomenal because no one was talking about witchcraft," said Alim Sudio as the scriptwriter at a press conference in Jakarta, Saturday, November 23.
"But now there are many but this has a unique story and writing with Titien Wattimena so there is a female perspective in the film," he explained.
"The first time I watched the 1977 version, I kept thinking "How come in that year the film is aesthetic" in terms of camera movement. When the remake was made, we thought about whether we could keep the work as good as 1977, fortunately Mrs. Erica (producer) really looked after us from the beginning from pre to ending to post so that this film would still be good as a work," said Razka Robby Ertanto.
Several scenes from the original film were used by Robby to pay tribute and at the same time connect the two versions that still have a consistent story.
"The characters were changed in such a way. There are also dance scenes like the original version to still capture things like the 1977 version," explained Robby.
"Humans are scarier than ghosts. The initial idea was that, then we thought that with Robby, we could make an elegant horror," added Erica.
Guna-Guna Istri Muda tells the story of Burhan (Anjasmara) who remarries Angel (Carissa Perusset) even though he already has a wife, Vivian (Lulu Tobing). On the other hand, Angel feels jealous of Vivian who is always Burhan's priority so she decides to put a spell on Vivian.
The film Guna-Guna Istri Muda will be showing in Indonesian cinemas starting November 27.
