Mount Rinjani Climbing Garbage Reaches 31 Tons Until October 2024
JAKARTA - The Gunung Rinjani National Park (TNGR) Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) noted that the waste produced from climbing activities from April to October 2024 reached 31,156.43 kilograms or more than 31 tons.
"Based on waste data for the period from April to October 2024, the waste produced from climbing activities amounted to 31,156.43 kilograms," said the Head of the NTB TNGR Center, Yarman, quoting
He said the high level of tourist visits in the Mount Rinjani area also had another impact, namely waste produced by climbing tourism activities.
"This is certainly a joint task to participate in solving the waste problem," he said.
He said the activities that had been carried out as an effort to tackle the waste were like a clean-up which was routinely carried out by the Lingkar Rinjani Citra Tourism Forum and other partners, as well as the pack in pack out process which was carried out at the climbing gate.

"Clean-up activities are also carried out independently by several trekking organizers, Nature Lovers Groups and other stakeholders," said Yarman.
The number of tourist visits to Mount Rinjani National Park in climbing tourist destinations is increasing. Of course this, he said, had a very good impact on the economy of local residents who are involved in the climbing service business, be it trekking organizers, guides, porters and other accommodation services that support the climbing business on Mount Rinjani.
"Wherever you are, work as anything, let's together preserve Mount Rinjani so that it becomes a garbage-free mountain," said Yarman.
