Implementing ESG Champion, BTN Achieves Green Building Certification

JAKARTA - The 2nd BTN Tower Building owned by PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) has won the Green Building certification or environmentally friendly building with the highest predicate or Platinum. The certification was given by the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) which is an official member of the World Green Building Council which has official members spread across 70 countries around the world.

BTN Assets Management Director Elisabeth Novie Riswanti said this certification is proof of the company's commitment to creating operations and an environmentally friendly business environment.

"We continue to be committed to strengthening the application of ESG principles in all business lines. We hope that this certification can be a motivation for all BTN employees to innovate and contribute in an effort to maintain a balance between profitability, sustainability, and social responsibility," said Elisabeth on the sidelines of the delivery of the Green Building Certification for Menara 2 BTN, in Jakarta, Friday, November 22.

Elisabeth also continued that the company will continue to ensure the operation of the Tower 2 BTN building to always comply with the corridors and criteria set by GBCI. Meanwhile, the Tower 2 BTN building is located on Jalan HR Rasuna Said No. 1, South Jakarta and has officially started full operation since September 2024. Elisabeth said the Tower 2 BTN building has become the center of activity for all BTN business divisions in producing various new innovations.

The 2nd BTN Tower Building is a physical manifestation of the transformation that BTN continues to carry out to become a modern bank that is able to answer the needs of customers in the future and future. This building complements the existence of BTN which has consistently served millions of Indonesian families in owning their dream home since BTN first distributed KPR 48 years ago, "said Elisabeth.

Meanwhile, GBCI's Green Building certification is a certification system that assesses buildings that have been built and operating for at least one year with a number of assessment aspects, including land use procedures, efficiency and energy conservation, efficient water resource management, the use of environmentally friendly building materials, air quality, lighting, and indoor temperature, as well as the practice of managing environmentally friendly buildings.

From the results of GBCI's assessment, BTN has made a number of efforts to make Tower 2 BTN buildings an environmentally friendly building. These various efforts are the addition of green areas which reach 32.1 percent, energy savings 21.86 percent with an Intensity value of Electric Energy Consumption (IKE) 234.41 kwh per square meter per year, water savings 26.7 percent with the use of 36.65 liters of clean water per person per day, the use of environmentally friendly materials, the existence of an Outdoor Air Introduction system, and various other innovations related to the application of sustainability principles.

All these efforts certainly have a positive impact on the environment, human beings and the economy, in accordance with the sustainability principle. This is in line with BTN's commitment to implementing environmental, social and corporate governance principles or Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in running its business in accordance with the 2023-2028 ESG Roadmap which has been designed by BTN in order to become an ESG Champion in the Indonesian banking industry," explained Elisabeth.

On the same occasion, Chairperson GBCI Ignesjz Kemalawarta said that based on the criteria for GBCI certification, the predicate of Platinum is the highest predicate of the four certification predicates in the form of Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Certified.

"With the achievement of the Platinum predicate, Tower 2 BTN is one of the best building examples in air circulation, lighting, and work convenience that can increase employee productivity," explained Ignesjz.

President Director of Eco Build Wiza Hidayat said the benefits of Platinum certified buildings are that users can be healthier and more productive because they are supported by a good work environment.

"Menara 2 BTN can be an example building for other buildings that want to get a Platinum certificate, especially to support environmental sustainability," explained Wiza.
