More Intensive, Online Judi Decree Blocks 380 Thousand Online Gambling Sites And 651 Accounts

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government through an online gambling desk led directly by the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security (Menko Polkam) is increasingly eradicating online gambling.

Minister of Communications and Digital Meutya Hafid revealed that since the first meeting of online gambling desks from November 4 to November 19, they have blocked 104,819 online gambling sites.

"If we count from October 20 or the new government, the figure is already at 380,000 (closed judol sites)," said Meutya at the Press Conference on Performance Achievement of Desk on Online Gambling Eradication and Dec on Cyber Security and Data Protection, Thursday, November 21 at the Komdigi office, Jakarta.

The Minister of Trade also said that he had blocked the flow of funds used for online gambling transactions, either through bank accounts or e-wallet.

Meutya said, since November 4, online gambling desks have submitted 651 applications to block bank accounts to Bank Indonesia (BI) and also the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

"So if a site is like his hand, this account is like his pulse. So this is also what we are promoting and we will cooperate with OJK and banks in this case Bank Indonesia," said the Minister of Communication and Industry.

In addition, the Minister of Trade also emphasized that e-wallets such as Dana, GoPay, OVO, and LinkAja are also special attention to online gambling desks.

Meutya said that her party had communicated with these platforms to ensure that their services were not used for online gambling activities.

"Friends at Dana, GoPay, OVO, just link, we have also communicated to then continue to lower on their respective e-wallets," he concluded.
