Bogor Regent And Deputy Minister Of Transportation Discuss Congestion Handling In Puncak
BOGOR Acting (Pj) Bogor Regent Bachril Bakri, together with the Deputy Minister of Transportation (Wamenhub) of the Republic of Indonesia, Suntana, held a coordination meeting related to efforts to deal with congestion in the Puncak area. This meeting took place in Serbaguna I Room, Bogor Regency Regional Secretariat Building, Cibinong, on Wednesday, November 20.
In addition to discussing congestion, this meeting also discussed preparations for the implementation of transportation for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025. The event was attended by a number of officials, including Plt. Head of the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ), Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Head of Railway Center (BKT), Head of Ops Korlantas Polri, Dirlantas Polda West Java, Regional Secretary of Bogor Regency, Deputy Head of Bogor Police, as well as ranks of the Ministry of Transportation and the Bogor Regency Government.
Acting Regent of Bogor, Bachril Bakri, explained that this discussion focused on solutions to deal with congestion in the Puncak area, especially at seven points prone to traffic jams from Ciawi to Cisarua.
We discussed various solution options, both in the short and long term, to overcome congestion in the Puncak area. Several proposals include the implementation of a one-way system, the provision of mass transportation to reduce private vehicles, to accelerate the construction of the Puncak II Line," Bachril said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Transportation, Suntana, explained three main strategies prepared by the Ministry of Transportation, namely short, medium and long-term strategies. For long-term solutions, the Ministry recommends the construction of toll roads and alternative routes.
"We received a recommendation from the Ministry of PUPR to build a toll road connecting Caringin with Cisarua and accelerate the construction of the Puncak II Line. This aims to reduce the concentration of vehicles in the Puncak area," said Suntana.
In addition, the Ministry of Transportation also accepts proposals for the construction of flyovers on the Puncak route and the possibility of developing the railway line as a long-term solution. Suntana added that this step is a priority because around 37% of users of the Puncak route aim to Cipanas and Cianjur.

Suntana closes with the hope that these steps can unravel chronic congestion in the Puncak area, especially on weekends and holiday seasons. We believe this solution will have a significant impact on the smooth running of traffic in these leading tourist areas," he said.
