Shopee Courier Climbs To The Top Of A Resident's House When He Wants To Be Arrested By His Tenants For Stealing A Motorbike

JAKARTA - A young man was arrested by a number of residents on Jalan Paku, Number 3, Kayu Putih Village, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta. The perpetrator was arrested for selling stolen motorbikes using the COD (cash on delivery) method.

But unfortunately, the buyer of the motorbike is the original owner of the motorbike that was previously stolen by thieves.

The young man selling the motorbike was finally arrested by residents and handed over to the Pulogadung Police.

Pulogadung Police Chief Kompol Suroto confirmed the incident. The perpetrator is still being questioned at the Pulogadung Police.

"The results of the investigation, the perpetrator and the victim were friends with one job as a Shopee courier," he said when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, November 20.

Because the perpetrator is an immigrant, continued Kompol Suroto, the victim took the initiative to invite the perpetrator to live together at the victim's rented house on Jalan Kebon Blank, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta.

Furthermore, on Monday, November 17, 2024, at around 02.00 WIB, the victim slept with the perpetrator.

"At around 03.00 WIB, the victim woke up, the perpetrator was no longer in the victim's contract and the victim's cellphone was gone," he said.

Furthermore, the victim looked into the future of his rented house, it turned out that the victim's motorbike was also gone or missing.

"The victim contacted his friend to ask for help looking for the perpetrator. At around 19.00 WIB, the victim and his friend conducted a search using the victim's e-mail account that was connected to the victim's cellphone. It is known that the perpetrator was around Kayu Putih," he said.

Then the victim and his friend searched around the point obtained via Email and found the perpetrator sitting on a motorbike in front of Ampera Market, Kayu Putih Village, Pulogadung.

The perpetrator is suspected of having to make a motorcycle sale and purchase transaction with the COD mode.

"When the victim and his friend approached him, the perpetrator actually ran to the residents' housing complex and climbed the roof tiles of a resident's house. Seeing an incident like that, residents and victims managed to secure the perpetrators," he said.

The residents then contacted the police. The Criminal Investigation Unit together with Binmas Kayu Putih secured the alleged perpetrator to the Pulogadung Police. The perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code.
