Hamas Condemns America Sanctions Senior Leader

JAKARTA - Palestinian fighter group Hamas criticized the US Treasury's decision to sanction its senior leaders, calling it an affirmation of the Biden administration's hostile position towards the Palestinian people.

Hamas, through a statement as reported by Anadolu, described the US move as confirmation of American criminal behavior that is biased against fascist occupation (Israeli government) and crimes against the Palestinian people.

As reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 20, Hamas confirmed that the sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department were based on misleading and false statements and grounds aimed at damaging the image of movement leaders working for the benefit of their people, their struggle, and their right to counter (resident) Israel.

The US sanctions list, he continued, also ignores Israeli leaders who commit the most heinous war crimes and use money as well as all means to commit the most heinous genocide in history.

The Palestinian resistance group asked the US Government to review its policies, stop blind sides with Israel, and detain Israel from its crimes, aggression, and broad violations of international and humanitarian law.

Earlier on Tuesday, the US Treasury Department announced sanctions against six senior Hamas leaders for allegedly facilitating terrorist activities and transferring funds to the group in Gaza.

Members of the Hamas Political Bureau in Gaza, Basem Naim, and Ghazi Hamad, are among those listed in the new list of sanctions against Hamas.

America's announcement of Hamas is not the first in imposing sanctions on its leaders, as some senior leaders and peak Hamas have been on the American sanctions list.

The US, Israel's main ally and arms supplier during the ongoing genocide war in Gaza, is one of several mediators between Hamas and Tel Aviv who are trying to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, along with Egypt and Qatar.

But mediation efforts failed as Israeli Chief Authority Benjamin Netanyahu refused to stop the war.
