Target 12,000 Locations, Ministry Of Public Works Reveals Irrigation Intensive Work Progress

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) implements the Cash Labor Intensive Program or PKT through the Acceleration of Irrigation Water Procedure Improvement (P3-TGAI) in 2024 in 12,000 locations with a target of absorbing 209,854 workers.

This activity is expected to support the Astacita of the food self-sufficiency program made by President Prabowo Subianto.

Director General of Water Resources of the Ministry of Public Works Bob Arthur Lombgia said the labor-intensive activities in the water resource sector were in the form of increasing the tertiary irrigation canal, from natural channels/land to channels with stone/lining pairs involving local farmers or residents.

"Tourists are given daily or weekly wages, thus increasing the income of farmers or villagers," said Bob, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Public Works on Wednesday, November 20.

The P3-TGAI activity itself was carried out in three stages with a budget allocation of IDR 2.7 trillion.

It was recorded that based on e-monitoring data on November 12, 2024, P3-TGAI's physical work achievement for Phases I and II was 93.40 percent. Then for Phase III, the construction progress reached 36.50 percent and is planned to be completed in the third week of December 2024.

One of the provinces that has completed the work for P3-TGAI in 2024 is South Kalimantan by absorbing 825 workers or the equivalent of 37,125 Work People's Days (HOK).

It is known that the implementation of the P3-TGAI program is under the responsibility of the Kalimantan III River Basin Center (BWS) as many as 55 locations spread across Tabalong, Hulu Sungai Tengah, Hulu Sungai Utara, Balangan, Tanah Bumbu and Tanah Laut Regencies.
