The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Calls The Excess Workload To Calculation Of State Losses So The Reason Many Suspects Have Not Been Detained
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said there were a number of reasons why dozens of suspects had not been detained before the end of their leadership term for the 2019-2024 period. Among them is an excess workload.
"Why has not been detained, once again, sometimes it makes sense that what investigators and public prosecutors have conveyed, for example, is related to the overload of workload," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20.
In addition, the deadline for detention is also one of the considerations when detaining the suspect. "And when the workload of investigators and public prosecutors is still high, right, it is calculated whether or not the filing is complete," he said.
"If there is not enough detention until the deadline, yes, until it is transferred to the court, of course it is better for us to move (to handle other cases first, ed)," continued Alexander.
Alexander also said that the calculation of state losses that had not been completed by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) was one of the factors. Moreover, if the suspects are charged with Article 2 and Article 3.

This reason makes him often encourage the task force (task force) of investigators in his institution to calculate state losses in a case. "If the calculation is simple. For example, it is related to mark-ups, prices. Mark-up prices should be sold 100, bought 200. What is the calculation? 100. That's simple," he explained.
Not only that, Alexander also said that he often encourages forensic accountants from internal to calculate state losses. "And it was accepted by the judge (in the trial, ed)," he said.
"So this is what I must always convey and remind my friends in the investigation, KPK prosecution. Don't wait for the results of the BPK or BPKP audits anymore. If we are still in the BPK or BPK audit process, yes, we will wait. But what is still not, we are still waiting for the queue and so on, it is better for us to calculate it ourselves," concluded Alexander.
