Alexander Marwata Says KPK OTT Is Impossible To Get Lost: Maybe More Selective

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata said the hand arrest operation (OTT) was part of the prosecution. Thus, this activity is impossible to be eliminated.

This was conveyed by Alexander when asked about Johanis Tanak's statement which was one of the candidates for the KPK leadership candidate (capim). During the fit and proper test, the deputy chairman of the anti-corruption commission plans to remove the OTT.

"KPK conducted investigations, investigations, prosecutions, executions. Well, the arrests were part of the prosecution," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20.

"So I don't think it will go away either," he continued.

Alexander explained that OTT is not in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). In the regulation, the terms are caught red-handed.

However, Alexander thinks this problem is not very essential. Instead of being eliminated, he said OTT should be done even better.

"The dispatch (to carry out OTT, ed) also exists. Maybe it's more selective," he said.

As previously reported, Johanis Tanak received applause from members of Commission III of the DPR RI while taking the fit and proper test as candidates for the KPK leadership (capim). He said he would remove the hand arrest operation (OTT) if re-elected.

"Even though I am the head of the KPK, I have to follow it, but based on my understanding OTT itself it is not right, it is not right," said Tanak at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 19.
