Receiving News Of Potential Russian Air Attacks, US Embassy In Kyiv Temporarily Closed

JAKARTA - The US Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, received information about the potential for significant airstrikes from Russia. The US Embassy will be temporarily closed.

"In case, the Embassy will be closed, and Embassy employees are instructed to take shelter on the spot. The US Embassy advises US citizens to prepare to take shelter immediately if any air warning is announced," the US Embassy in Kyiv said in a post on Wednesday, November 20.

The Russian-Ukraine war is still continuing after the 1,000-day invasion by Russia. Most recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called Ukraine's attack on the Bryansk region in Russia using the ATACMS missile supplied by the United States (US).

The use of ATACMS missiles is considered a clear signal that the West wants to increase the conflict in Ukraine.

"The fact that ATACMS was used repeatedly in the Bryansk area overnight, of course, is a signal that they want an escalation," Lavrov, speaking in Rio de Janeiro, told reporters.

"Without America, it is impossible to use this high-tech missile, as Putin has repeatedly said," Lavrov said.

Russia says Ukraine fired six US-made ATACMS missiles into the western region of Bryansk.

Lavrov said he hoped Moscow's new nuclear doctrine, where President Vladimir Putin lowered the nuclear attack threshold, would be read carefully.

Vladimir Putin has previously said Western approval for the Ukrainian attack means the direct involvement of NATO countries, the United States and European countries in the war in Ukraine as NATO military infrastructure and personnel must be involved in targeting and firing missiles.
