Fiji Blue Inspired By Her Little Daughter To Write Her Sweet June Song
JAKARTA - Indie pop musician Fiji Blue recently presented a new single titled 'June'. This is the fourth single from his debut album, 'Glide', which is ready to be released on December 13.
The owner of the name Trevor Ringing dedicates the album to his wife, Natasha, who is currently battling brain cancer. The project, which contains 11 songs, is full of the most personal songs Trevor has ever written, even so, songs with the theme of love and loss on this album can still be universally interpreted, both platformist and romantic.
While related to the new song, 'June', is a song she wrote for her daughter with Natasha in the future. The video clip of this song also features several recordings of Natasha's childhood. This single also follows in the footsteps of the previous single-single, Start Over, Peppermint, and Angel.
This summer, Fiji Blue has performed at several of the biggest festival stages she has ever attended, including SummerFest at Milwaukee, Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle, and became the main performer at Wicker Park Fest in Chicago. Last August, he also performed at Summer Sonic in Tokyo and also the Lalala Festival in Jakarta. In November, he will start his Asian tour including Singapore, Taipei, Manila, and Hong Kong.
Taking inspiration from musicians likeiko Ray Vaughan, and John Mayer, Fiji Blue discovered their creative processes in combining storytelling lyric writing styles with guitar accompaniments. After collecting more than 300 million streams from the three EPs he released ('Reasons You Should Care' (2021), 'Goodbye' (2021), and 'I Loved You, What Happened?' (2022) 'Glide' became Fiji Blue's first album.
"This album was written during the transition period that I personally experienced," explained Fiji Blue in a written broadcast received by VOI, November 15.
There are a lot of adjustments to make when we face the end of a relationship with someone, there are moments where we feel trapped in the middle of something, and of course at the same time we are also trying to process all the intense feelings that are inside us... it's like starting from scratch again, either emotionally or in terms of writing the song itself.
To tell stories in his upcoming album, Fiji Blue went to Topanga for a week to write songs. Every day he completes one song which is then immediately combined with the instrumentation of the piano and acoustic guitar.
There are emotions felt at every tone, cord, and melody in 'Glide', balancing between the heartache and affection that inspire them. At the most heartbreaking point, this album is an reflection of those who never really leave us, a faint trail that continues long after life goes in a different direction. This album is rich with feelings of gratitude to the loved ones around us all such as friends, family, and the future.
