NATO Secretary General Says It's Up To Each Ally Regarding The Use Of Weapons To Attack Russia

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Mark Rutte said allies made their respective decisions on whether they could allow Ukraine to use their weapons for attacks within Russia ahead of a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Defense Minister format in Brussels, Belgium.

"It is up to their respective allies to decide what they are doing. I will not discuss whether their respective allies should answer yes or not or what they are doing," he told reporters, launching TASS November 19.

"I will generally say don't communicate too much and don't make our enemy wiser than necessary," he continued.

"Today we will discuss how to help Ukraine win. That means more help, more money," Rutte said.

Earlier, The New York Times on November 17 reported US President Joe Biden had allowed Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles for attacks within Russia, citing sources.

Then, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Western Hemisphere Affairs Brian Nichols confirmed this information.

Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said several EU countries had also allowed the use of their weapons to carry out attacks deep within Russian territory from Ukrainian territory.

Separately, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday the updated Russian nuclear doctrine set a potential nuclear strike in response to the use of the Western-made conventional missile by Kyiv against Russia.

Previously, Peskov described West's latest decision as a new chapter of qualitative escalation.
