Fixing the Institution, KPK Leadership Candidate Ida Budhiati Wants Anti-Corruption Leaders to Synergize with Supervisory Board
JAKARTA - Leadership Candidate (Capim) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Ida Budhiati has completed the fit and proper test at Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR). According to Ida, the KPK must improve and repair its integrity as an anti-corruption agency.
Ida assessed that the KPK is currently facing a challenge that is not simple related to the integrity of individuals within its internal which has an institutional impact.
According to her, the KPK does not have the confidence to build communication and coordination with state institutions and non-state institutions to synergize efforts to eradicate corruption with a trident strategy, namely prevention, education and prosecution.
"So how can we gain public trust in the future, the KPK must improve, carry out internal consolidation by reviewing its ethical norms, its code of ethics, then also how its supervision system is and how its code of ethics enforcement system is," said Ida at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 19.
For 10 years given the mandate to oversee the independence, integrity, and credibility of the General Election Commission (KPU), according to Ida, the KPK in the future must build synergy with the KPK Supervisory Board to reaffirm the integrity of the commission's personnel.
"Well, one of them is how in the future I personally, if for example given the trust to lead this institution, I will invite my colleagues to sit together with the Supervisory Board that there are things that must be improved with how to enforce the code of ethics in the KPK," she said.
"For example, by improving regulations on the procedural law for enforcing the code of ethics that in the future the examination of the code of ethics, alleged violations of the code of ethics by the Commission's personnel are carried out, it should be done openly," she continued.
Second, to provide a deterrent effect and provide education related to the integrity problem of the commission's personnel, the Supervisory Board is given input by the leadership.
"So how the Supervisory Board in the future will help the KPK institution, to strengthen the integrity of the KPK, it must come from the awareness of the commission leadership to come to the Supervisory Board and provide suggestions that are correct," she explained.
Therefore, according to him, the KPK leadership in the future must be proactive and synergize with the Supervisory Board. And ask the Supervisory Board to improve technical regulations.
