President Prabowo's Government Will Trial B50 Next Year

JAKARTA - The government of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto plans to conduct a 50 percent or B50 biodiesel road test next year before it can be fully implemented in 2027-2028.

Deputy for Food and Agribusiness Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Dida Gardera, said that the B50 trial will be carried out when the mandatory B40 policy is implemented next year.

"The point is that next year we will start testing B50. If everything is ready, the implementation is possible to be accelerated," said Dida in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, November 19.

Meanwhile, to ensure the preparation for the implementation of the mandatory B40 next year, Dida said that the Government had taken several steps.

First, the evaluation of installed capacity and production capability of biodiesel Fuel Business Entity (BU BBN).

Second, evaluation of infrastructure readiness and carrying capacity, including the availability of ship transport modes and specifications, as well as oil fuel terminal facilities (TBBM), and ship pump rates.

Third, evaluate the technical performance and test results or B40 road tests in distance which cover around 40,000'50,000 km.

The government, he said, had also analyzed the amount of financing needed for the implementation of the mandatory B40 policy.

From the results of the analysis conducted together with the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS), the funds available at BPDPKS are still considered sufficient to support the implementation of the B40 policy by 2025.

The government will implement a mandatory B40 policy in 2025.

Dida said the B40 distribution volume target was around 16.08 million kiloliters with an estimated B40 payment fund of IDR 37.5 trillion from BPDPKS.
