Money Turnover At The 2024 Jetski World Championship Aquabike Event Reaches IDR 1.8 Trillion

JAKARTA - The world-scale water sports event, Aquabike Jetski World Championship which took place at Lake Toba, attracted more than 200,000 visitors. The circulation of money during the event reached Rp1.8 trillion.

World-scale water sports event, Aquabike Jetski World Championship will be held for five days from 13 to 17 November 2024 in four Toba districts, namely Karo, Dairi, Simalungun, and Samosir regencies.

Plt. President Director of InJourney, Maya Watono, said that large international events are crowd pullers, thereby increasing the attractiveness of domestic and foreign tourists to carry out tourism activities in Indonesia.

Maya said that the event was also able to boost traffic at the main airport supporting this event. There was an increase in passenger traffic at Kualanamu Airport and Raja Sisingamangaraja XII Airport by up to 10 percent during this Aquabike Jetski World Championship event.

"The economic impact of organizing this event is extraordinary, with the economic turnover reaching Rp1.8 trillion, for the five years of organizing, namely 2023 to 2027," Maya said in a statement, Monday, November 18.

Maya said InJourney together with the Central Government, especially the Ministry of SOEs, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Regional Government, the synergy between SOEs and the private sector continues to support the revival of Indonesian tourism by creating international events as catalysts for the development of destinations.

"As well as increasing economic productivity which has contributed greatly to the country's GDP, especially Lake Toba as one of the DPSP for water sport tourism destinations," he said.

Holding BUMN in the aviation and tourism sector, PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney recorded more than 100 racers and crews from 30 countries and 10 Indonesian jetski racers participating in this racing event.

By involving 3,000 local workers, the 2024 Aquabike Jetski World Championship in Lake Toba is one of the important events to boost the local economy. Moreover, InJourney as the organizer of the event is also committed to involving 70 percent of the local workforce in its implementation.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the Aquabike Jetski World Championship at Lake Toba this year. He said this event was very good and was able to provide a forum for Indonesian jetski racers to compete in the endurance cup.

Previously, we had included them in the National Championship jetski. Indonesian athletes have shown a tremendous increase, as evidenced by this event, they have entered the top 10 insurance cups. Of course we continue to improve this again," said Dito.
