Bill On Asset Confiscation Proposed To Enter Prolegnas, Menkum RI: Government Committed To Eradicating Corruption

JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas said the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU) was proposed to be included in the 2025-2029 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas). He called this step a commitment in efforts to eradicate corruption.

This was conveyed by Supratman in the Working Meeting (Raker) for the Preparation of the Prolegnas for the Mid-Term Bill for 2025-2029 and the Prolegnas for the Priority Bill for 2025, Monday, November 18.

"The government is committed to eradicating corruption by proposing the Asset Confiscation Bill, we hope to be in 5th place out of 40 proposals for the 2025-2029 Medium Term Prolegnas Bill," Supratman said as quoted from his written statement.

Supratman agreed that many dynamics occurred when the draft asset confiscation law was submitted to Commission III of the DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period. However, this condition did not dampen President Prabowo Subianto's government's steps to realize his commitment.

"I can confirm that the President has always emphasized that eradicating corruption is the main agenda, in certain ways that the President can take, I guarantee that the President will take strict action against efforts to eradicate corruption, that is a commitment," said the Gerindra Party politician.

Furthermore, Supratman explained that there were eight bills proposed to be included in the 2025 Priority Bill Prolegnas. "Four of them are carry-over, namely the Law on Civil Procedures, Narcotics and Psychotropics, Industrial Design, and Airspace Management," he said.

While the rest are related to International Civil Law, Procurement of Public Goods and Services, Cyber Security and Resilience, and Nuclear Energy. As for the proposed bill for the 2025-2029 Medium-Term Prolegnas, there are 40.

In the future, Supratman hopes that this prolegnas evaluation can produce the best decision. "Hopefully these proposals can be understood and mutually approved," he said.

On that occasion, Chairman of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI Bob Hasan said that the total proposed bill was still not final. The number can still be reduced or increased.

Moreover, currently the Legislative Council of the Republic of Indonesia has carried out various activities to listen to input and views. Until the preparation meeting ends, there are 150 Prolegnas Bills for the Mid-Term 2025-2029 and 42 Priority Bills for 2025," said Bob.

"Further discussions regarding the total number of proposals will be carried out later in a working committee meeting," he concluded.
