Eliano Reijnders' Opportunity To Play Against Saudi Arabia Is Determined At The Indonesian National Team Training Today

JAKARTA - Eliano Reijnders' chances were lowered against Saudi Arabia.

The exercise agenda, which will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, will be the moment to determine whether Eliano will appear or not in the sixth match of Group C of the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

This was conveyed by the Indonesian national team manager, Sumardji. Present while monitoring the exercise on Sunday, November 17, 2024, Sumardji said coach Shin Tae-yong would see Eliano's performance in the last exercise held on Monday, November 18, 2024.

"Eliano is a very good person. He tries and tries to be able to accept not being included in the squad. It has been fixed."

"He is still enthusiastic, still trying to show himself capable of competing in his position," said Sumardji in a statement quoted on Monday, November 18, 2024.

"We will see later. We will see how Eliano will develop in the training later, so that coach Shin can look and see, as well as can judge Eliano as worthy to be included in the squad," he said again.

Furthermore, Sumardji emphasized that Eliano's condition was in good faith without any problems.

He then hopes that the PEC Zwolle player can compete in the Indonesian national team even though the final decision remains with Shin Tae-yong.

"I think if we look at Eliano's physique, compared to his friends, I actually think he can still compete. However, during training a few days ago, maybe Shin's coach's judgment was different."

"We can see this later. We will see what the progress will be on Sunday and Monday," said Sumardji.

Eliano was previously dropped from the final squad of the Indonesian national team in the last two matches of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against China and Japan.

Shin Tae-yong as the head coach mentioned this because of the player's unfavorable condition.
