Indonesia Wins 4 Gold Medals At IFSC Asian Youth Championships 2024

JAKARTA The Indonesian rock climbing contingent has won nine medals consisting of four gold, one silver, and four bronze medals from the IFSC Asian Youth Championships 2024.

The championship took place on November 14-17, 2024 in Jamshedpur, India. In total, there are three events contested in this event, namely lead, boulder, and speed.

Indonesian gold medals were obtained by Putra Tri Ramadani (men's junior team), Haddan Malik Bahmuqyibar (U-16 men's Youth Spece), Antassyafi Roby Al Hilmi (U-18 men's A speed shower athlete), and Aninda Putri Qolby Arsyillah (women's youth A athlete).

Then, the only silver medal brought home by Indonesia from this championship was recorded in the name of Alma Ariella Tsany in the women's lead Youth B discipline.

Finally, the bronze medal was won by Taqiyya Nur Aziza (women'slead Youth A), Putra Tri Ramadani (men's junior boulder Youth), Tsaniya Erna Kusumawati (the U-16 women's Youth B age group speed), and Ramaski Aswin Kristanto (the U-20 junior age group).

Indonesia has sent a total of 18 representatives to this event. Since the beginning of this competition, Indonesia has immediately competed closely with Japan in all disciplines, including speed.

Jepang yang mengirim sebanyak 45 atlet ke kompetisi tersebut berhasil keluar sebagai juara umum dengan total perolehan delapan emas, delapan perak, dan delapan perunggu. Adapun Indonesia menempati posisi kedua perolehan medali.

The Head of the Achievement Development Division of the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation, Ichal Umarella, said that the medals from boulder and lead disciplines could be a benchmark for competition with Japan and South Korea which dominates the two numbers.

"This competition is a means to try to get closer to the distance between the two countries, especially in both disciplines (boulders and leads)," he said.

Indonesia's participation in this competition is part of coaching. Moreover, rock climbing has just made history in winning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Rock climbing is included in one priority sport for Indonesia to face important events in the future. One of the big targets is the next Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.
