Note, This Is Ideal Breakfast Time To Lose Weight
JAKARTA - For those of you who are trying to lose weight, breakfast can be the key to achieving that goal. Breakfast is often considered the most important food in a day, especially for those who try to lose weight.
However, can the breakfast you choose help support the weight loss process? The answer is yes.
Proper breakfast can be the key to keeping the body's metabolism optimal, reducing hunger, and helping avoid unhealthy snacks throughout the day. According to registered nutritionists, breakfast time can greatly affect nutritional intake throughout the day.
"Our guidance is very intuitive and ensures that nutrition is given according to the time the body needs it," said DeGore, quoted by VOI from the Parade page on Monday, November 18, 2024.
"Food time is like a puzzle piece arranged by the body so that everything goes smoothly, both in relation to the clock on the wall and with other things that happen on our day," he continued.
DeGore added that maintaining consistent meal times may be more important than a certain time in a day.
"Eating at a consistent time in most days a week helps regulate the rhythm of the body's sirkadian," explained DeGore.
"Ritme sirkadian regulates various body processes, ranging from sleep cycles and waking up to hormone production. When you eat, you basically send a signal to the body about biological clocks and what should be done."
However, it's not just breakfast that's important to keep energy and make you feel better, but it's also important to keep other meal times going," said Shelbie Greenville, RD and owners of Mindful Nutrition Consulting.
"Eating with a small and consistent portion helps increase fiber content and nutritional diversity, prevents energy reduction or brain confusion, so that they are ready to face anything that comes throughout the day," he continued.
While what you eat is more important than when to eat, experts agree you should eat breakfast 1 to 2 hours after waking up, or about 12 hours after last dinner.
"If you wait too long for breakfast, you may feel very hungry at breakfast and after that," said Miranda Galati, MHSc, RD, a nutritionist from Real Life Nutritionist.
"When you wake up, the body's energy reserves are low and the body needs a jump in blood sugar. So, if you delay breakfast for too long, you may feel the body needs fuel as soon as you finally sit down to eat," he continued.
Not only is hunger increasing, according to Rachel Dyckman, RD, you may also feel weak between bedtime and breakfast.
"If you are a coffee warrant, drinking coffee in an empty stomach can interfere and cause gastrointestinal problems," he said.
Lindsay Malone, MS, RD, LD says you shouldn't eat too fast.
"You need to give enough pause between the last dinner and breakfast the next day. This will help control blood sugar, insulin, and blood fat such as triglycerides and cholesterol," he explained.
Lindsay says first meals in the morning and feeling hungry can increase metabolism. This really creates a movement in the digestive system that activates many parts of the body.
"When we don't eat, we don't get this activation. Eating will heat the body, or increase metabolism, making it more metabolic," he said.
In terms of weight loss, men's Garcia, RD of Health Canal said that eating breakfast in the first hour after waking up will help you feel full all day long, so it's less likely to snack on unhealthy foods.
