Prabowo Shows Free Nutritious Food To Brazilian Businessmen
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto explained Indonesia's commitment to overcoming the problem of poverty for Brazilian businessmen through a food security program that focuses on providing free nutritious food for children in Indonesia.
This was stated by President Prabowo when delivering his remarks at the Indonesia-Brazil Business Forum agenda, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Sunday (17/11) local time.
"It is part of my belief over the years that a country must be able to feed its own people," the President said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 18.
According to the President, the success of a country is not only measured by the growth rate, but also from what extent the country can ensure its welfare and basic needs for their people.
President Prabowo emphasized that providing sufficient and nutritious food for children is part of Indonesia's long-term strategy to fight poverty and hunger, which is in line with the main theme of the G20 which focuses on eradicating these problems.
President Prabowo expressed his concern regarding the poverty and hunger rates that still hit many countries, including Indonesia.
"What is the point of Indonesia becoming a member of the G20, if 25 percent of children in this country do not have enough food?", he said.

According to the Head of State, high economic growth will not have a significant effect if the majority of the people cannot enjoy this achievement.
As a concrete step, President Prabowo emphasized that one of the strategic programs currently being implemented in Indonesia is the provision of free food for every Indonesian child.
Therefore, Indonesia plans to study the successful tips of Brazil which has run a similar program for school children.
"I want to learn from Brazil, which already has a successful program in providing food to school children. I have asked my team to coordinate with the Brazilian Ambassador to Indonesia so that we can send a team to study the program," he said.
