KPK Affirms Uncle Birin Cannot Go Abroad Even Though Suspect Status Is Dead
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that former South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor or Uncle Birin could not travel abroad even though his suspect's status had died. He has been prevented from leaving the country for six months.
"(The prevention abroad by the Directorate General of Immigration, ed) is still in effect," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters quoted Monday, November 18.
Tessa said the pretrial decision did not affect the ban. Moreover, prevention has been carried out for the next six months since last October.
As previously reported, the South Jakarta District Court (PN) received a pretrial lawsuit from the Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor or Uncle Birin on Tuesday, November 12. His status as a suspect in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was declared dead.
Uncle Birin was named a suspect in receiving bribes along with four other people. They are the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Ahmad Solhan (SOL), the Head of Cipta Karya as well as the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Yulianti Erlynah (YUL), the Management of the Tahfidz Darussalam House as well as the collectors of money or fees Ahmad (AMD) and Plt. Head of the Household of the Governor of South Kalimantan Agustya Febry Andrean (FEB).
Meanwhile, as the suspect givers, namely Sugeng Wahyudi (YUD) and Andi Susanto (AND) as private parties. A total of seven suspects were named by the KPK which began with a hand arrest operation (OTT) on Sunday, October 6.
