Pertamina Patra Niaga Supports Recovery Of Residents Affected By Mount Lewotobi Eruption

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga established a number of refugee posts as an effort to support the recovery of residents of East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which was affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki.

Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Heppy Wulansari said that since the beginning of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi, Pertamina Patra Niaga moved quickly to distribute basic food assistance to refugees from the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in seven refugee posts spread across East Flores.

"Along with the establishment of public kitchens at evacuation points, assistance in the form of 1,400 liters of kerosene for the needs of the posko kitchen was distributed through representatives of the East Flores Regency Government on Saturday, November 16," he said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday, November 17.

Heppy said that the assistance provided was a form of Pertamina Patra Niaga's concern for natural disasters in the form of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi.

"To support the needs of evacuation posts and public kitchens and based on coordination with the local government, we supply the need for kerosene to all evacuation posts in East Flores Regency. Previously, basic food assistance for refugees had also been distributed," he said.

Area Manager Communication, Relation & CSR Jatimbalinus Sunday Rahedi added that the assistance was distributed by traveling for up to 3.5 hours from the Maumere Fuel Terminal to East Flores Regency with various challenges.

"The weather conditions at the evacuation post since Saturday morning have been raining heavily and the steep road conditions are quite challenging for us to send these energy assistance," he explained.

Furthermore, Sunday said that prior to the assistance, Pertamina Patra Niaga had also sent 100 liters of Pertamax fuel, 12 12 tubes of Bright Gas 12 kg refill, 4 sets of LPG stoves and 16 regulators as well as several food logistics needs such as 500 kg of rice, 23 packs of eggs, cooking oil, mineral water to baby and mother equipment packages in stages since Thursday (4/11/2024) for the needs of the refugees and the operation of the post.

Mount Lewotobi Men erupted on Monday, November 4 and continued to erupted until a few days later, so that since then the East Flores District Social Service began distributing basic necessities to refugee posts and public kitchens in refugee areas.

The refugee posts and public kitchens function to serve the basic needs of the refugees.

"Until now, Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to coordinate with BNPB and BPBD as well as local governments to monitor the needs of refugees affected by the eruption. Efforts made with local governments and related agencies are also a form of our service as part of the BUMN to be present with the community," said Sunday.
