Aprindo: People Choose To Buy Cheap Price Products Without Seeing Brands

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) Solihin said that most people currently have the orientation to buy products at the cheapest prices and no longer see brands.

"If there is one type of product, people will look for cheaper ones. They are looking for comparisons now. They are no longer looking at brands. This is the result of our study in the field as retail entrepreneurs," Solihin said in a press conference regarding the Aprindo General Chairperson Election in Serpong, South Tangerang, Banten, quoted from Antara, Sunday 17 November.

Therefore, continued Solihin, currently every retailer must provide a wide selection of products with the choice of citizens so that people continue to come to buy.

The reason is, consumers can now determine the fate of a retailer. If the buyer feels that there are no products that are in accordance with their wishes, they can move to another retailer or buy online.

"This is our challenge going forward to maintain retail existence with various innovations that have seen the results of field studies and analysis over the past few times so that retail can continue to grow," he said.

Solihin, who has just been elected as the General Chair of Aprindo for the 2024-2028 term of service, also stated that he would invite retailers to provide an e-commerce system to adjust current developments.

In addition, it also strengthens the role of MSMEs in cooperation through the provision of space. However, MSME products must also have an attraction for people to come to retail.

"Therefore, every retailer is currently expected to sell food products because this is what residents need every day. If vehicles and furniture are not purchased every day," he said.
