Menko Pangan Zulhas Dicurhati Farmers Of West Java: Irrigation Damaged For A Long Time
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) held a dialogue with farmers from Cihampelas, West Java. The farmers complained about the irrigation of rice fields in the area which had been damaged for a long time.
Initially, the man who is familiarly called Zulhas toured the fields with the farmers. Then, he asked about the problems he was facing.
"Where do you come from, Mr. Farmers? What's the problem," Zulhas asked, quoted from an official statement, Sunday, November 17.
'From Cihampelas. This sir, the irrigation here has been damaged for a long time,' replied the farmers.
Hearing the complaint, Zulhas promised to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) regarding the revitalization of irrigation for the farmers' rice fields. He also asked the head of the relevant agencies to accommodate the farmer's heart.
"I asked the Kadis to go to the field, (finding) thousands (of lands so less productive). There are 4 thousand hectares in Subang, there are another 4 thousand hectares in Sumedang, the rice fields are good, the dam is there, but there is no irrigation. So he only (harvest) once," said Zulhas.

According to Zulhas, if the rice fields in the area are irrigation smoothly, the land can be harvested two to three times a year. Therefore, he emphasized that he would invite the Ministry of Public Works to see this.
"That's us (later) come immediately and invite us to work on it, because if the meetings (in the room) don't end," said Zulhas.
