Minister Of PPMI: PMI Murder Victims In Hong Kong Wait For Autopsy Process Before Returning
Semarang Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PPMI) Abdul Kadir Karding said that Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) who were victims of murder in Hong Kong were still waiting for the autopsy process before being returned to Indonesia. He expressed this in a public discussion entitled "Expension and Challenge of Working Abroad" at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Diponegoro University Semarang, Saturday, November 16.
"We have handled the PMI murder case in Hong Kong. We have communicated with the local police," he said.
Karding also explained that coordination was carried out with the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong and the families of the victims in Cilacap, Central Java. In addition, the Ministry of PPMI has contacted the PMI sending company, namely PT Vita Melati Indonesia.
"The autopsy process is ongoing. If the body is ready to be sent home, we will take them directly to the residence of the victim's family," said Karding, who is an alumnus of FPIK Undip.
Previously, the Ministry of PPMI reported that a 25-year-old PMI woman from Central Java was the victim of a murder in Hong Kong. The victim has been working since 2021 through PT Vita Melati Indonesia and recently extended her contract.

The victim was found dead at Waterfall Bay Park, Hong Kong, on October 28, 2024. Local police have detained the alleged perpetrator who was at the scene and was monitored via CCTV footage.
Acting Director General of Protection of the Ministry of PPMI, I Ketut Suardana, said that the victim's body was still undergoing an autopsy and toxicology test in Hong Kong. "If all legal procedures are completed, we will immediately assist in the process of repatriating the bodies," explained Suardana.
A team from the Ministry of PPMI also visited the victim's house in Central Java on November 1 and met the families of the victims who are now taking care of the deceased's child.
