DPR Will Call Jampidsus To Investigate Tom Lembong's Case, AGO: We Respect
JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) respects the plan of Commission III of the DPR to summon the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) to investigate the alleged corruption case of sugar imports that ensnared former Trade Minister (Mendag) Tom Lembong.
"We respect the summons," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the AGO Harli Siregar when contacted in Jakarta, Friday, November 15, confiscated by Antara.
He also said that Jampidsus was ready to attend when summoned by Commission III of the DPR RI.
"Of course we will fulfill it if the DPR summons Jampidsus to investigate the case," he said.
It is known that member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Abdullah said Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives would summon Jampidsus to investigate the alleged corruption case of sugar importation which is currently being investigated by the Attorney General's Office of Jampidsus.
He said that so far Commission III of the DPR RI has not yet made a Working Committee (Panja) specifically to handle the case, although previously there were proposals to make the Panja.

He considered that cases involving commodity imports usually had the same patterns, both sugar imports, meat imports, and other imports. But the question is how law enforcement officials are serious about dismantling it.
According to him, state finances that can be saved from these cases can be of fantastic value. Even law enforcement officers, he said, should not be selective in handling cases.
Previously, member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Soedeson Tandra encouraged the formation of the Working Committee (Panja) to investigate the alleged corruption case of sugar imports.
He considered that at this time people were wondering about the case. Do not let, he said, the enforcement of the case that ensnared Tom Lembong was accused of being a revenge politics carried out by the regime.
"We propose this in order to also help the prosecutor's office, we ask to form a Panja to explore this case," said Tandra at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 13.
