Want A Better Music Ecosystem, Minister Of Culture Prepares National Music Convention Next Year
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture initiated a meeting with Indonesian music personnel through a discussion entitled 'Relax Coffee,' which took place at Komp. Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Central Jakarta, Thursday, November 14.
A total of 115 invitations from national music industry personnel and players attended the discussion. Various focuses on strengthening the Indonesian music ecosystem are being discussed, which includes advocacy for governance and music conventions as an effort to develop, utilize, and strengthen the music ecosystem in Indonesia.
Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon said that a meeting with the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports of South Korea had inspired him to create a good climate for the growth of the arts and cultural ecosystem, including music.
"So we also hope that one day Indonesian music, of course, will not only host in our own country, but can also be accepted by other countries," said Fadli Zon.
"Indonesia, which has a population of 280 million with a language wealth, I think it has the same opportunity. Hopefully, from the inputs in this discussion, we can create a good music ecosystem," he continued.
He also supports the idea of Deputy Minister, Giring Ganesha, to hold a National Music Convention next year.

Furthermore, Fadli asked all art personnel to be willing to provide input to the government, both from musicians, associations, concert organizers, and all stakeholders in the field of Indonesian music.
"We have not spoken in general about traditional music. This is still music in great form. I think there needs to be a touch in itself and input it so that our traditional music, which is indeed a wealth of national culture, may also need more attention in this regard," said the Minister of Culture.
"Therefore, on various occasions we accommodate aspirations, also accommodate views, criticisms, including so that the Ministry of Culture is not wrong in organizing programs. Because we know that we also have slices with several other ministries and institutions," he added.
The Ministry of Culture has generally compiled an Indonesian music framework targeting the realization of music promotion that improves people's welfare. This goal is expected to produce results with the strengthening of the national music ecosystem.
The Relaxing Ngopi activity is the first step of the Ministry of Culture to build dialogue with stakeholders in the cultural field, and in the future it will continue to be carried out with various groups, both music artists, paintings, dances, and associations in the fields of culture and other cultural stakeholders in order to strengthen the Indonesian cultural ecosystem.
