Kumamoto Japan Masters 2024: Gregoria To Quarter Finals After Bending Intanon
JAKARTA The women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Kumamoto Japan Masters 2024.
The fifth seed advanced after winning two straight games 21-14 and 21-15 over Thailand's women's singles, Ratchanok Intanon, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, morning WIB.
"Winning the first game is key today. Ratchanok (Intanon) seemed to lose at the start, so I was superior in terms of confidence," said Gregoria after the match.
Gregoria appeared to dominate the first game after chasing her opponent in the first six points. He leads the interval at four points and is already difficult to stop.

At the beginning of the second game, Gregoria was forced to rise to catch up with 0-4. The two took turns distributing numbers after that, until Gregoria began to move away after the 13-13 position.
"In the second game, I was left behind, but after that I was able to control the situation and didn't make much mistakes myself. I played carefully," said Gregoria.
This is Gregoria's third competitive victory over Intanon from a total of 12 of their clashes. The three victories only occurred in four of their latest clashes.
Gregoria, who is the 2017 junior world champion, will then meet Mia Blichfeldt. This Danish women's singles stopped the Japanese representative, Manami Suizu.
