Picu Warganet's Debate, China Presents Cosplay Tourism As An Ancient Brawl

JAKARTA - The city government in China offers a unique experience for tourists. China offers tourist exile routes like ancient times. Tourists wore prison uniforms to handcuffs. Unfortunately, this sparked debate on social media.

In December, China's northeastern Heilongjiang Province will launch a tourism project that will allow visitors to experience an 'insistance' to Nanggungta.

It is hoped that this creative package will significantly increase the number of tourists and the income of the tourism sector.

The city of Mudanjiang, which is located southeast of Helongjiang, is home to Ninggata, an ancient military city and one of the most famous exiles in history.

Historical records show more than 1.5 million people were exiled to Ningguta, due to serious crimes during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Many prisoners had to go through a long and tiring journey, with many of them dying on the way. Meanwhile, the prisoners who survived were often slaved by local officials.

Undaunted to gain fame through the popular historical drama Empresses in the Palace, in which Emperor Yongzheng isolated his concubine's family there.

Currently, visitors who come to the Jingpo Lake tourist area in Heilongjiang can wear pink or blue prison uniforms, complete with wooden necklaces and shackles, to re-flavor the ancient exile path.

In addition, there will be performers wearing costumes for ancient prison guards. This creates an in-depth experience that allows tourists to feel the severity of their role.

In fact, tourists can do bungee jumping to imitate the despair experienced by exile prisoners who choose to jump off cliffs.

Currently, the cost and total length of this exile route has not been disclosed. Tickets to enter the Lake Jingpo tourist area itself are priced at 49 yuan or IDR 107 thousand per person.

Tourism area staff indicated that this experience is expected to begin next month, with the government also planning to add winter sports activities along this exile route.

This ancient punishment experience has attracted great attention on mainland Chinese social media. One Weibo user expressed his anticipation.

"I can't wait to go to Nigunta this winter and follow the 'entrepreneur climb'. It sounds very stress relief," wrote the netizen.

Another user expressed similar views, "This is a creative way to promote the local history and culture of interest to young people."

However, there is also a different opinion, "The question is the site of tragedy in ancient Chinese history, where many intellectuals and patriots were forced into exile. This activity does not respect that painful history."
