Britain Threatens Fines For Social Media Boss Regarding Illegal Knife Sales

JAKARTA The UK government proposes that executives of online social media and market companies may be subject to personal fines if they fail to address sales and promotions of dangerous and illegal knives on their platforms. The proposal was announced on Wednesday 13 November.

British Interior Minister, Yvette Cooper, said that an epidemic of violent crimes with knives had destroyed many families and communities across the UK. The British government has set a target to reduce knife crime by half in the coming decade.

Cooper insists that the move includes the application of severe sanctions to technology executives who have not succeeded in overcoming the sale of illegal knives on their platforms. In addition, the government also proposed a total ban on ninja swords (ninja Swords) which are often sold illegally on the internet.

The move is part of broader efforts to deal with ever-increasing sharp gun violence, which has sparked major concern among the public and authorities in the UK.
