Entering Settlement And Killing 1 Resident, Jambi BKSDA Ensures That Elephant Herds Return To The Forest

Jambi Province's Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) confirmed that the team had escorted a herd of elephants back into the forest area after previously entering residential areas and killing a resident of Pandan Rambahan Bay, Tebo Ulu named Darji (46).

Jambi BKSDA Public Relations Zuhratus Saleh said that currently the team is still herding elephants in Tebo Regency to enter forest areas so that conflicts with humans do not occur again.

"After the BKSDA received information, they immediately dispatched a team to lead the herd of elephants away to the forest area and until now the team is still monitoring," he said when contacted, Antara, Wednesday, November 13.

The Jambi BKSDA team cooperated with the local sector police (polsek) to check the crime scene (TKP) and the team had also given a visit to the victim's house and expressed their condolences to the victim's family for the accident.

Until now, the Jambi BKSDA noted that there are still around 90 to 120 Sumatran elephants living in forest areas in Tebo Regency to West Tanjung Jabung as their population areas in Jambi Province.

"The number of Sumatran elephants in the landscape of Bukit Tiga Puluh as a national park is around 90-120 and the population is stable because there are births and deaths that we monitor," said Zuhratus Saleh.

The landscape of Bukit Tiga Puluh National Park in Jambi Province is throughout Tebo Regency to Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency (Tanjabbar).

Previously, a man from Pandan Rambahan Bay, Tebo Ulu District, Tebo Regency, was reportedly killed by an elephant tantrum. A man named Darji, 46 years old, was rushed to the Seri Serumpun Health Center.

"Serious injuries made the victim unable to be helped and breathed his last while receiving treatment from the medical team on Monday (11/11) night.

According to information from the victim's wife, at that time the victim alone wanted to expel the elephant that entered and damaged the victim's oil palm plantation, unfortunately the victim was stepped on by the elephant.
