Governor Of Lemhanas: Aceh And Papua Are In High Vulnerabilities Ahead Of The Pilkada

JAKARTA - The Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas), Ace Hasan Syadzily, said that Aceh and Papua Provinces were areas that were in high vulnerability ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

This was conveyed by Ace during a meeting with Commission I of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 13.

"Based on the mapping of Bawaslu, BSSN, BAIS, TNI and Polri, there are still relatively many provinces and regencies/cities that are in high vulnerability ahead of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections, especially in Aceh, and 4 provinces in Papua, as well as at the district/city level," said Ace Hasan.

This condition, continued Ace, can produce vertical and horizontal conflicts in society. For this reason, he reminded that detection, anticipation, and prevention activities by election organizers and all stakeholders are a must.

"So that the Pilkada will not only run in a luber and jurdil manner, but also give birth to leaders and the increasing quality of democracy," said the Golkar politician.

Ace also said, based on data from the National Police, the potential index for vulnerabilities for the Pilkada phase 3 out of 38 provinces, 98 cities with 419 districts, 4 provinces, 1 city and 1 district in the very vulnerable category.

As for the vulnerable category areas, there are 3 provinces, namely North Maluku, Lampung, and Aceh. As well as 1 city, namely Central Jakarta and 17 other regencies in Indonesia.

"Well, some potential problems in the simultaneous regional elections include security disturbances in Papua carried out by the Armed Separatist Group, having high vulnerabilities," said Ace.

Nevertheless, Ace assessed that the issue of security and public order in Papua, which is currently one of the vulnerable areas, is still being controlled.

"Secondly, of course we all know, the political issues that are expected to increase in addition to the vulnerability in the form of physical collisions," said Ace.
