Meeting Joe Biden, President Prabowo Promises To Strengthen Indonesia-US Relations
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House, Washington DC, on Tuesday 12 November.
The meeting of the two leaders of this country also marks an important milestone in diplomatic relations between the United States and Indonesia which has existed for 75 years.
During the meeting, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the close friendship between Indonesia and the United States, which has existed since the time of Indonesia's struggle for independence. President Prabowo also emphasized his government's commitment to continue to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
"For us, the United States is a very good friend, who supports us in the struggle for independence and helps us many times when we need it. Therefore, I will work hard to strengthen relations between Indonesia and the United States," said President Prabowo, quoted from a press release by the Presidential Secretariat.
Meanwhile, President Biden highlighted the importance of commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Indonesia, and stated that the partnership between the two countries is now stronger than ever before.
"I am proud that the partnership between our countries has reached its highest strength, and today we will discuss steps to continue this partnership," said Biden.

Biden also outlined several cooperative focuses, including strengthening a free and open Indo-Pacific region, supporting a clean energy transition with Indonesia's important role, and strengthening a safe and resilient supply chain. He emphasized that a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries includes increasing cooperation in the security sector.
"We also discussed various global challenges, including the situation in Gaza and the South China Sea," said Biden.
