South Sulawesi Police Have Named The Former Kadinsos Makassar As A Suspect For COVID-19 Social Assistance

The South Sulawesi Regional Police have named a suspect in the alleged COVID-19 social assistance case at the Makassar City Government Social Service, South Sulawesi.

"Only one has been processed, meanwhile the misuse of the COVID-19 budget, which should have been purchased by medical devices, is only one," said Director of the Ditreskrimsus of the South Sulawesi Police, Kombes Dedi Supriadi, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 12.

Kombes Dedi confirmed that the suspect in this case was the former Head of the Makassar City Government Service with the initials MT.

"One suspect at the prosecutor's office, then the other one is just in the fingerprint stage. There is a former (Kadinsos), there is an implementer of goods and services providers," he explained.

According to him, there are still other witnesses who are undergoing examination or in the investigation process related to the alleged corruption mark-up budget case in the COVID-19 assistance for the period 2020-2021.

"Later on, the others will have a determination, right while (the investigation) is being conveyed, there are categories of cases that are already in stage one, meaning that there are already suspects and cases," said Kombes Dedi.

Previously, the Head of Sub-Directorate III of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Kompol Hendrawan, revealed that from the calculation of the results of the BPK audit, state losses on suspicion of mark-ups or inflating COVID-19 aid funds reached Rp5.2 billion.
