Sri Mulyani Reveals That She Will Reform LPDP Governance

JAKARTA - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that with the Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara met with the McKinsey Indonesia team to discuss reform of the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP).

"We discussed governance reform from @lpdp.ri, which is one of the important institutions driving Indonesian education and research," he said in his Instagram account @smindrawati, quoted on Tuesday, November 12.

Sri Mulyani said that the role of LPDP is increasingly strategic in creating better quality Indonesian human resources as mandatory capital to get out of the middle class trap or Middle Income Trap (MIT).

Sri Mulyani conveyed that LPDP as an institution that manages education endowment funds is the foundation of various aspirations of the community. Therefore, it is necessary to improve governance.

"I hope that from today's discussion with the McKinsey team, we can get insight into how to develop the LPDP institution so that it can continue to be relied on to create quality Indonesian leaders in the future," he said.

To note until August 31, 2024, it was recorded that the distribution of LPDP scholarships had reached 49,896 awarders. Meanwhile, the total education endowment fund of Rp. 154.11 trillion.
