Platform X Tries Free Access To Grok AI For Some Users

JAKARTA - So far, social network X has limited its chatbot users, namely Grok AI, to Premium or paid users. However, X is rumored to be opening up Grok access for free.

Over the weekend, TechCrunch found a number of researchers and users of the X app who uploaded screenshots of the free version of Grok provided to people in certain areas.

BREAKING: @grok will be available to free users (with some restrictions). Will be available for limited locations first," wrote the @swak_12 account who is also a technology researcher.

Swak also said some of these limitations included 10 questions per two hours with the Grok-2 model, 20 questions per two hours with the mini Grok-2 model, and three questions of image analysis per day.

In addition, to use Grok for free, your X account is also said to be at least seven days old and has a phone number connected to the account.

Previously, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence (AI) startup, xAI, was in talks with investors for a funding round that could assess the company's $ 40 billion (IDR 627.3 trillion).

This was reported by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, October 29. This discussion is still in its early stages, so that conditions can change or talks can be canceled.

Previously, xAI received funding of US$6 billion (Rp94 trillion) in the series B funding round last May, with a post-investment valuation of US$24 billion (Rp376.3 trillion).

The investors involved include Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital. Musk launched xAI in July 2023 as an alternative to OpenAI's ChatGPT.
