Live Goat Feed, Tigers Entering Residents' Villages In Bengkulu Successfully Trapped

BENGKULU - Bengkulu Lampung Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) said the tiger that entered the trap on Monday night was in good health.

A female tiger was caught in a trap set by the Bengkulu BKSDA in Kinal Jaya Village, Napal Putih District, North Bengkulu Regency with one live goat bait.

"Yes, it is true that last night the tiger entered the trap cage which was installed two weeks ago with a healthy tiger condition," said Head of the Conservation Section of Region I BKSDA Bengkulu Lampung, Said Jauhari when contacted via telephone, Antara, Tuesday, November 12.

An adult female tiger is at the Bengkulu Lampung KSDA Office in Bengkulu City for further examination.

Meanwhile, North Bengkulu Deputy Chief of Police, Kompol Kadek Suwantoro, after the tiger's evacuation, appealed to the public to be more vigilant because there is a possibility of tigers roaming around the location.

"People are advised not to work alone in fields in the hills and not to go home too late," he explained.

Previously, Bengkulu Lampung BKSDA officers were on standby at a number of locations where tiger conflicts occurred in order to provide a sense of security to the people in three sub-districts in North Bengkulu Regency.

Then, his party together with a team from the North Bengkulu Regency Government (Pemkab) tried to dispel and expel tigers back into their habitat, such as turning on sounds such as firecracker carbit cannons and the like.

The Bengkulu Lampung BKSDA has also again installed two additional traps with a total trap with a goat bait that has been installed, namely five units.

The five trap units are located in three sub-districts, namely Napal Putih District, Pinang Raya District and Ulok Kupai District, North Bengkulu Regency.

This was done because, some time ago until now the tiger entered a residential area by appearing on the road, many livestock belonging to residents were attacked by tigers and others.

It is known, based on the monitoring results, there are two tigers consisting of one in Pinang Raya District and one more in Napal Putih District, the two areas are one lanscap or one tiger homerange which is a tiger cruising area.

Then, the Bengkulu BKSDA moved the trap cage that had been installed some time ago to the location where the cattle were eaten by tigers.
