DPR Ensures New KPK Leaders Are Approved Before December 6
JAKARTA - The DPR has confirmed that the new leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will be approved before the recess period on December 6, 2024.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adies Kadir, said that there was no change in the name of the candidate for KPK leadership offered by President Joko Widodo by President Prabowo Subianto.
"Nothing, nothing (change, ed). So Mr. President Prabowo has replied to a letter from the leadership of the DPR RI, there has been no change. So it is the same as what was proposed by the previous president, Mr. Joko Widodo," said Adies, Tuesday, November 12.
Adies said that the consultation meeting to replace the Bamus meeting with factions had decided to submit the follow-up to the Surpres Capim KPK to Commission III of the DPR, namely by holding a fit and proper test on the KPK Capim.
"Later, we will just have to wait for Commission III before the fit and proper will consult with the leadership of the DPR. When do you want to start the fit and proper, how are the technicalities etc," said Adies.
"But I think friends in Commission III are used to it. When I was in Commission III, it was also normal, at least I needed to consult the date when he wanted to start the fit and proper test. What is certain is that we will have a recess until December 6," he added.
