Manchester United Vs Leicester City: Ruud Van Nistelrooy's Last Match At Old Trafford
Ruud van Nistelrooy will close his term as interim coach of Manchester United with a match against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday 10 November.
As interim coach of Manchester United, Ruud van Nistelrooy's score so far has been very good. United won 5-2 over Leicester City in the EFL Cup, drew 1-1 against Chelsea in the Premier League, as well as a 2-0 win over PAOK in the Europa League which also became MU's first win in European competition this season.
This unbeaten record has eased tensions at Old Trafford in the last 10 days, particularly after the dismissal of Erik ten Hag. Ruben Amorim is scheduled to take over the manager position of van Nistelrooy starting Monday 11 November.
On the other hand, Leicester City started the 2024/2025 season with pressure on manager Steve Cooper. The Foxes opened the Premier League with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur and only recorded their first win in week 7th. Leicester slumped in 15th place in the standings, just five points above the relegation zone.
Manchester United previously defeated Leicester City 5-2 in their meeting at the EFL Cup last week, which was also van Nistelrooy's first game as caretaker. In last meeting at Old Trafford last season, Manchester United won 3-0 thanks to two goals from Marcus Rashford.
Ahead of his last game as manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy is likely without five main players against Leicester City. Luke Shaw (betis), Badminton Malacia (lutut), Harry Maguire (betis), Leny Yoro (kaki), and Kobbie Mainoo (hamstring) had to pull over for some time.
Andre Onana will be the main goalkeeper in the 4-2-3-1 formation. The MU back line will be strengthened by Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Leandro Martinez, and Noussair Mazraoui. Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte will fill the pivot doubles position to strengthen MU's midfield, with Bruno Fernandes going to play the number 10 playmaker.
Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford are positioned as wingers. If Diallo is not fit, Alejandro Garnacho is ready to replace. Rasmus Hojlund will be the main striker for Manchester United in this match.
In the Leicester camp, Steve Cooper barely had any injury problems ahead of their trip to Old Trafford. Mads Hermansen will be the main goalkeeper, with a rearline consisting of James Justin, Wout Faes, Caleb Okoli, and Victor Kristiansen.
The midline will be strengthened by Boubakary Soumare and Harry Winks will fill the pivot doubles position. Facundo Buonanotte will fill the number 10, with Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Jordan Ayew as wing strikers. Jamie Vardy will be Leicester City's main striker.
Manchester United have played the last three meetings against Leicester City in all competitions, including a 5-2 win in the EFL Cup a few days ago. The Foxes have only won one of their last 14 visits to Old Trafford in a Premier League (three-time series, losing 10).
Leicester City and Manchester City are two teams that have always scored in every Premier League 2024/2025 match until the 11th week. It is predicted that Manchester United will win 3-1 in van Nistelrooy's last match as interim coach of Manchester United.
