President Director Of Garuda Calls Ready To Face EGMS Professionally

JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra expressed his readiness to be professional in facing the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) scheduled for November 15, 2024.

Irfan said that as a professional, he is ready to carry out his mandate if he is still trusted to be the president director and sincere if he is replaced, according to the decisions of the shareholders.

"We are professionals, so when we are asked to (be the president director) we thank you, when we replace it we also thank you, if it really needs to be replaced," said Irfan quoting Antara.

He also admitted that the Garuda Indonesia EGMS on November 15 had a main agenda for making changes to the board of directors, both at the board of directors and commissioners of the company.

"On the 15 GMS, okay, there is indeed an GMS on the 15th (November) EGMS agenda, the agenda is changes to the management. The management is the directors and commissioners," he also said.

When asked about the circulation of the news that the Acting CEO of Lion Air, Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan, would be a candidate for President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA), Irfan stated that all these decisions were in the hands of shareholders.

"This is an authority beyond our (professional) authority. This is entirely the authority of shareholders and we respect that," he said again.

According to him, as a professional, he fully respects the decisions taken by shareholders without questioning these considerations.

"Shareholders certainly have a lot of considerations that we also will not ask because we are professionals," he also said.

Irfan said that the EGMS is the full authority of the shareholders, and his party respects all decisions to be taken. He will wait for the results of the EGMS which will take place on November 15.

"We have joined from the start, we were asked to run the ABCDEFGHIJ, after that it all depends on the shareholders. We'll wait for the 15th (November)," said Irfan again.

Previously, it was reported that the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the Garuda EGMS would explain the reasons for the change in the management. Then, he asked to wait for the results of the meeting first.

"Not yet by the GMS, just wait for the GMS," said Erick in Jakarta, Thursday (7/11).

When asked if there would be a reshuffle of the Garuda Board of Directors, Erick said it could not be explained and it would be answered at the EGMS later.

"Later, when the GMS is done, it will be told," said Erick.
