The Israeli Military Plans To Open Kissufim Crossing To Supply Aid To Gaza

JAKARTA - The Israeli military plans to reopen the Kissufim crossing to central Gaza to increase the flow of aid to the southern tip of the Gaza Strip.

The move comes amid growing international pressure on Israel to provide more assistance to Gaza.

Aid agencies have warned of a humanitarian crisis in the northern part of the region, where Israeli forces have carried out major operations for more than a month.

As reported by Reuters on Friday, November 8, the crossing will only open after work over the past few weeks by military engineers to build inspection points and paved roads, the military said.

Last month, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin wrote a letter to Israeli officials demanding concrete action to address the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian enclave.

The letter, which was uploaded to the internet by reporter Axios, gave the Israeli government 30 days to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

One of the demands included in the letter was the opening of the fifth crossing to Gaza.
