Terror Act In Makassar And Police Headquarters, U.S. Embassy Issues Security Alert!
JAKARTA - The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta issued a security alert for its citizens in Indonesia.
Judging from id.usembassy.gov website, Thursday 8 April, the warning was issued on Wednesday 7 April.
Through the site, the U.S. Embassy encourages its citizens throughout Indonesia to raise security awareness.
This comes as Indonesian authorities warn that the terrorism threat level remains high. Referring to the two events that occurred at the end of March.
Namely, related to the suicide bombing that occurred in a church in Makassar, Sulawesi on March 28. This was followed by the attack on the Police Headquarters of the Republic of Indonesia (Mabes Polri) in Jakarta on March 31.
"The U.S. Embassy recommends raising awareness of personal security, especially in public places," the U.S. Embassy wrote.
The U.S. Embassy also recommends a number of actions that its citizens should take, as follows:
Take extra precautions especially in crowded streets, shopping areas, places of worship and locations with many people.Review your personal security plan.Be aware of your surroundings.Avoid large demonstrations and gatherings.Be vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs.Do not show signs of wealth, such as wearing jewelry or expensive watches.Don't physically resist attempted robbery.Monitor local media for updates.
