Calls For A Temperature Reduction After The Election, President Biden: You Can't Love The Country Only When Winning

JAKARTA - President Joe Biden delivered a cool message calling for a temperature reduction to Americans on Thursday after the Republican Donald Trump's victory in the election, ensuring a peaceful and orderly transition of government.

"The campaign is a competing vision contest. And we accept the choices made by the state," he wrote on X's official social media account, as quoted Friday, November 8.

"You can't love your country just when you win," he continued.

President Biden also wrote, while speaking with Trump to congratulate him, he assured that he would ensure his government's cooperation in making a peaceful and orderly transition.

"That's what the American people deserve," President Biden wrote.

Donald Trump, who was paired with JD Vance and promoted by the Republican Party, won the presidential election after earning more than 270 electoral votes, a minimum threshold to win the contestation of 538 electoral votes contested in 50 states and the District of Columbia, over rivals from the Democratic Party, the incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris and Team Walz.

Previously, President Biden also spoke at the White House Garden, amid disappointment over Kamala Harris' defeat.

"The defeat doesn't mean we lose," he said, quoted by Reuters.

President Biden said Tuesday's general election had proven the integrity of Uncle Sam's general election system.

"Something I hope we can do no matter who you choose is to see each other not as enemies but as fellow Americans, lower the temperature," President Biden said.

"I also hope we can dismissed questions about the integrity of America's electoral system. This system is honest, fair, and transparent. And trustworthy, winning or losing," he continued.

"We lost this battle. America is your dream of calling on you to bounce back," he said.

President Biden is known not only to congratulate and called for a soothing message, but also invited Trump to come to meet at the White House to discuss the transition to government.

Previously, Trump's campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said President Biden's congratulations and invitations received appreciation and the meeting "will take place soon," ABC News quoted him as saying.

"President Joe Biden called President Donald J. Trump to congratulate him for his victory and deliver an invitation to the White House to ensure a smooth transition between the current government and the upcoming Administration. President Trump is looking forward to the meeting, which will take place soon, and highly appreciates the phone call," Cheung said in a statement.
