Nico Williams Admits Barcelona Players Continue To Send Messages To Join

JAKARTA - Spanish national team star Nico Williams said several Barcelona players repeatedly sent him messages to leave Athletic Club and join Camp Nou in the summer.

Williams, who performed brilliantly for La Roja at Euro 2024, was badly targeted by Barca in last summer's transfer market.

However, he finally decided to stay at Athletic for at least one more season.

"It's difficult. In addition, Lamine (Yamal), (Alejandro) Balde, and the others said to me, 'Come on, come on, friends,'" Nico Williams told La Revuelta TV.

He added that his Spanish team-mates who played at Barca would send him messages around the clock.

Although Azulgrana has recruited Dani Olmo, Williams said he continues to receive messages from Barcelona supporters on social media.

"It's hard to avoid that. I still receive messages even though they are not connected."

"That's a little of everything. A lot of people say go to Barca and others say Barca don't care about it anymore," he said.

Nico Williams has indeed been rumored to be anchored to Barcelona in the summer market yesterday.

The 22-year-old player became a hot commodity after bringing the Spanish national team to the Euro 2024 champion. He appeared in six matches and contributed two goals.

However, it is difficult for Nico Williams to leave the club that has raised him since he was a junior.
