Beware Of Lava Floods, Mount Lewotobi Men Eruption Again On Thursday Morning

FLORES - Mount Lewotobi Male located in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) erupted again on Thursday, November 7 morning.

Based on ANTARA's monitoring at the Mount Lewotobi Observation Post, Male in Wulanggitang, East Flores, Thursday at 08.53 WITA, smoke was seen outside, and a burst was heard from the direction of the crater of the mountain with a height of 1,584 meters above sea level (masl).

Based on information issued by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the Geological Agency, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) stated that the ash column observed was at an altitude of about 2,500 m above the peak, or about 4,084 meters above sea level.

In the statement, it is stated that this eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 47.3 mm and a temporary duration of approximately 2 minutes 33 seconds.

The eruption was also accompanied by hot clouds falling towards the Northwest as far as 1,000 meters from the eruption center.

Currently, Mount Lewotobi Men are at Level IV (Awas) Status, therefore, the public and visitors are advised not to carry out any activities within a 7 km radius of the eruption center.

The community around Mount Lewotobi Male is also advised to be aware of the potential for rain lava flooding in rivers that originate at the top of Mount Lewotobi Men in the event of high-intensity rain, and calm and follow local government directions and do not believe in issues whose sources are unclear.

It is known, the Men's Mount Lewotobi Observation Post so far has recorded at least seven eruptions that occurred today.
