President Biden Congratulates Trump, Invites White House To Discuss Government Transition
JAKARTA - United States President Joe Biden congratulated Donald Trump for his victory in the 2024 presidential election by telephone on Wednesday, inviting him to meet at the White House.
Trump, who is paired with JD Vance of the Republican Party, was able to outperform Democratic candidates, incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris and Team Walz in Tuesday's vote.
The White House said in a statement President Biden was also committed "to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasizing the importance of working to unite the country," Reuters said on November 7.
His statement said President Biden invited Trump to meet at the White House.
Meanwhile, Trump's campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said President Biden's move reaped appreciation and the meeting "will take place soon," ABC News quoted him as saying.
"President Joe Biden called President Donald J. Trump to congratulate him for his victory and deliver an invitation to the White House to ensure a smooth transition between the current government and the upcoming Administration. President Trump is looking forward to the meeting, which will take place soon, and highly appreciates the phone call," Cheung said in a statement.

Harris' defeat came when Trump won in the states of Pennsylvania, Georgia and Wisconsin, as well as Michigan.
