Phil Collins Is Still Maulana's Armand Inspiration When Working On The Solo Project
JAKARTA - Armand Maulana has just introduced an extended play (EP) or a mini album 'Sarwa Renjana' which is his latest music project as a soloist.
The Gigi band's vocalist admitted that Phil Collins was still his inspiration in working on the five songs presented at the EP 'Sarwa Renjana'
Although not all songs try to mix Phil Collins' works, at least his approach to presenting something different from Gigi, inspired by the former Genesis.
"The basis is because I really love Phil Collins. I've been a fan of Phil Collins from the start," said Armand Maulana during a press conference in Melawai, South Jakarta, Tuesday, November 5.
For me, he is a big band vocalist, Genesis, when he made a solo album he was able to get out of his Genesis and succeed," he continued.
Meanwhile, the five songs presented in this EP are 'Don't Let Go', 'I'm Your Place To Go Home', 'Semanman it', 'Serear Cinta', and Surga which is the focus track.

Practically the EP Sarwa Renjana is only done by four people, namely Armand Maulana (singer, songwriter), Ade kiosk (song producers), Kamga (songwriter), and Simhala Avadana (A&R Trinity Optima Production).
Armand did come with a different work than Gigi's songs. If in Gigi, he relies on playing guitar, bass and drums, then on the solo album there are more elements to be presented.
Some of the elements that Gigi's work is difficult to find but are in Armand's latest solo work, including brass and choir.
"From the start, we really wanted to give choirs to the songs, so it was like gospel (music)," concluded Simhala Avadana.
